theMICAM shows itself to be the leading trade fair
in the global fashion footwear industry
35,389 total visitors came to theMICAM, compared with 36,049 in March 2012. Of these, 19,181 were international operators from more than 100 countries, amongst the most significant being Russia and the CIS area, France and the Far East.

“We are pleased with the results obtained for theMICAM's 75th edition," said Cleto Sagripanti, ANCI president. "In keeping with the sharp drop in domestic demand, we've seen a decline in the Italian attendance and an increase in foreign operators. This edition of theMICAM's numbers are a tangible and concrete sign of the event's importance and power, which was presented to the public this year in a completely renewed manner while retaining its distinctive soul - which is what helps us to be strong and competitive worldwide despite tough market conditions."

The presence of operators that represent the most important worldwide distribution brands such as Barneys, Isetan and Tsum confirms the importance of this event for the fashion footwear industry.

“We want to hit the road running with this edition's results," continued President Sagripanti, "to face the future of this increasingly international, renowned and substantiated show with strength and determination."

For women's fall/winter footwear, theMICAM displayed a strong and determined image that is regal and hyper glamorous: a woman in high-heeled boots, or elegant and trendy with hints from the past. Amongst the stands a new design with a renewed desire for simplification was evident. Amongst iridescent hues, laminates, glitter and metals, sculptural forms and shoes that are more moderate in height and decor were found, along with solid and comfortable loafers and booties that are well finished and made with soft leather. Elegant, large sizes and relaxed atmosphere alternated for men as well, from sneakers to new urban cowboy boots. There was also a space for children's footwear that was fun, colorful and above all quality made, with a dedicated area in pavilion 4.

theMICAM Award, an award given to the best Italian and foreign buyer, was conferred on Roberto Tassinari from Tassinari srl and Roger Bromley from RUSSELL & BROMLEY, respectively. The awards were handed out during the “MIRROR”, an exclusive gala dinner organized in collaboration with Vogue Accessory at Milan's Teatro Vetra.
